An All Consuming Love

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 12:29, that our God is a consuming fire! What an awesome and powerful reality! God our Father is consumed with His love for you! If we knew and could comprehend our Father’s limitless love for us, I believe it would change us in a remarkable way. We would more readily forgive others and forgive ourselves for our shortcomings and for the times we miss the mark. We would most certainly have a different view of the world around us and those who make up our world.

Jesus loved people the way the Father did because He had a revelation of God’s love for Him.

He knew and said on more than one occasion that He and the Father were one. Beautifully depicted in John 17, is both an expression of God our Father and God the Son as one heart and Jesus’ prayer to include you in that same place of intimacy.

“And I ask not only for these disciples, but also for all those who will one day believe in me through their message. I pray for them all to be joined together as one even as you and I, Father, are joined together as one.

I pray for them to become one with us so that the world will recognize that you sent me. For the very glory you have given to me I have given them so that they will be joined together as one and experience the same unity that we enjoy

You live fully in me and now I live fully in them so that they will experience perfect unity, and the world will be convinced that you have sent me, for they will see that you love each one of them with the same passionate love that you have for me.”

—John 17:20–23 (TPT)

God our Father loves you the same way He loves Jesus! As you mediate on God’s all-consuming love for you, I pray you will be flooded with a renewed passion for the Godhead, and transformed by a supernatural compassion for the souls all around you. My prayer for you today is that you, “Will be empowered to discover what every holy one experiences—the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions. How deeply intimate and far-reaching is his love! How enduring and inclusive it is! Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding—this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God!” (Ephesians 3:18–19, TPT).

I love and bless you,

Dr. Mary Frances Varallo
