Become What You Believe
I have the The Message translation Bible and just enjoy it so much! I came upon a scripture recently that I would like to share with you. It comes from a passage in Matthew chapter 9, where two blind men were crying out to Jesus to heal them. The word cry in this context literally means, “scream.” These men were desperate for their circumstances to change, and would not simply sit back quietly while their miracle passed them by.
“Son of David, have mercy on us!” they shouted after Jesus. What did Jesus do? Nothing. So, the men followed Him into a house. Finally, Jesus turned to face them and posed the question, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
Emphatically, they answered, “Yes, Lord.”
And Jesus said, “According to your faith be it done unto you” (v. 29). The Message translates verse 29 this way:
“Then become what you believe.”
Oh, I like that! “Become what you believe!” What do you believe? Do you really believe the words of God concerning you? Jesus is saying then, “Become what you believe”. Believe what God's Word says of you, and become that which He sees and says of you today!
